Welcome to Taupe. By creating an account or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

Taupe is a free, End-to-End Encrypted (E2EE) web messenger. The Service allows users to communicate securely via text, media, and voice messages without requiring personally identifiable information (such as email or phone numbers).

2. User Responsibilities

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You are solely responsible for the content you transmit. You agree not to:

Use the Service for spam, harassment, or sending unsolicited mass communications.
Distribute malware, viruses, or any malicious code.
Use the Service for illegal activities, including but not limited to terrorism, drug trafficking, or the sharing of illegal pornography.
Attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or compromise the security of the Service.

3. Encryption and Limitations

Taupe uses End-to-End Encryption. We do not have the ability to decrypt, read, or moderate your messages. Because we cannot moderate content, we rely on users to report abuse.

While we offer features like "Burn after read" (auto-deletion) and history limits, we cannot prevent other users from taking screenshots or photographing their screens. We are not liable if another user saves your communication against your wishes.

Furthermore, if you lose your 16-digit private number, you will permanently lose access to your account. We do not have the ability to recover this number for you.

4. Service Limitations

To maintain the integrity of the Service, the following limits apply:

Maximum of 5 linked devices per account.
Maximum file upload size of 25 MB.
Rate limits on login attempts to prevent brute-force attacks.

5. Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms. We may also block IP addresses or revoke accounts involved in malicious behavior.

6. Disclaimer of Warranty

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. You use the Service at your own risk.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Taupe and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of your use of the Service.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
